A ride on a steam train!

An unforgettable experience is a visit to the STAR Museum Railway and a ride on a historic diesel or steam train through the beautiful Groningen countryside. The newly renovated museum in the carriage shed houses a unique collection of authentic railway equipment from the past, as well as the "From NOLS to STAR" collection.

During the many public train days with fixed departure times, groups can enjoy a very affordable train ride. A carriage on the desired train is reserved especially for the group.

However, if you'd like to rent your own train, there are very affordable options even for small groups. Larger groups can choose between a diesel or steam train.



At the STAR Museum Railway, everything is accessible for people with disabilities. Adapted wheelchair cars are available, spacious accessible toilets are available, and the museum area has an elevator. The stations in Stadskanaal and Veendam are easily accessible by bus and offer excellent food and beverage facilities.
